Babies, Brain, and Blessed Parents
Eudaimonia is a Greek word that expresses the idea of a whole, flourishing life, beginning from childhood. It's not just happiness, but thriving in body, mind, and character — an ideal for human development from youth to maturity.
The Centre for Health specializes in a range of workshops on parenting. There are five different target workshops related to preconceptional health to parenting of school-age children.
The Parenting and Child Development Workshops
This is a series of five workshops, which can be attended in sequence or as a standalone workshop
Who should attend?
Individuals or Couples, whether planning or not planning the pregnancy. The preconception health plays a crucial role in improving fertility, reducing risks of complications, and ensuring a healthier and smarterprogeny. This workshop will help attendees/couples to learn the importance of good nutrition, maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle, preconception medical check-ups and vaccinations, fertility awareness, and mental well-being. Focus will also be on avoiding harmful habits, strengthening emotional readiness, and the shared responsibility of both partners in preparing for a healthy pregnancy.
Who should attend?
Women (preferably as a couple) in any trimester of pregnancy. These can and should be attended by those women who are consulting their gynecologist and obstetrician. It is known that antenatal care is vital to ensure safe pregnancy, healthy baby growth, and maternal well-being. However, the busy OPD of obstetrician and gynaecologist does not allow you to get answers for all your questions. This workshop has specifically been designed to answer those concerns. The participants of the workshop will learn about essential antenatal visits, a balanced diet, safe physical activity, and recognizing warning signs during pregnancy. Emphasis will also be placed on emotional support, lifestyle modifications, preparing for childbirth, breastfeeding basics, and the partner’s role in ensuring a positive pregnancy journey.
Who should attend?
New parents or those parents who have child in age range of newborn to 23 months. The post delivery period is often termed as fourth trimester of pregnancy. The only difference is baby is outside the womb. This is equally challenging for parents. The first two years of a child's life are a period of incredible growth and change. By age two years, 80% of brain development of child is already completed. Therefore, any intervention to improve learning and shape the brain after age of two years is as if reaching airport, once the flight has taken off.
This workshop provides a foundational understanding of your baby's development from infancy to toddlerhood. We will explore key areas of development, including motor skills, language acquisition, and social-emotional milestones. You’ll learn how to create a stimulating home environment, recognize your child's cues, and support their learning and growth in a way that feels natural and fun. The workshop will guide on the right stimulation for holistic development. Then, common health concerns such as colic, breath-holding spells, or sleep training will be discussed. There would be a discussion on the selection of toys and books for young kids. And please remember, you can read books to a newborn baby, who is listening (even though they don’t respond).
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for parents with children aged 2-5 years of age. The focus of this workshop is on understanding your child's rapid physical, emotional, and cognitive development. We'll delve into positive discipline techniques, learn effective communication skills, and explore strategies to manage challenging behaviors. You'll gain practical tools to foster independence and build a strong, loving bond with your child, making these formative years a joyful experience for the whole family.
Who should attend?
